Fifty years after the debut of the television show Gilligan’s Island, the debate over Mary Ann or Ginger still plays out nightly in bars around the world. The hypothetical question can define someone’s character and priorities, but really the only person who probably got to make the decision was the Professor (sorry, Skipper). Now in her mid-70s, the actress who played Mary Ann, Dawn Wells, has written a book with all sorts of theories about her character’s behavior entitled What Would Mary Ann Do? The self-help memoir is a kitschy homage to her good-girl image. No word on whether she’ll sign any coconuts.
