Man Dead after Fatal Auto Collision near Cherry Avenue in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA (November 4, 2021) Early Thursday morning, David Verweyst Jr. was killed in a crash on the 405 Freeway.

California Highway Patrol responded to the incident around 4:40 a.m., near Cherry Avenue after receiving multiple dispatch calls.

The events leading up to the deadly accident still remain unclear. However, authorities declared 41-year-old David Verweyst Jr. dead at the scene.

Moreover, Long Beach officials closed down four southbound freeway lanes for at least three hours.

At this time, the authorities are investigating the reason behind the collision.
