26-Year-Old Man Dies in Four-Vehicle Crash on Cactus Avenue

RIALTO, CA (February 15, 2022)David Smith died in a police chase ended in a four-vehicle crash on Cactus Avenue, early Thursday afternoon.

According to Rialto Police Department, the chase began around 12:25 p.m., near the intersection of Merrill and Spruce Avenue.

Per reports, a motorcycle officer attempted to pull over an Infiniti Q50 sedan for speeding. Although its driver, 26-year-old Smith, of San Bernardino initially pulled over and took off when the officer approached his vehicle.

Consequently, police then chased after him and at one point, the suspect attempted to strike a second motorcycle officer with his car.

Amidst the chase, the male suspect ran a red light at the intersection of Rialto and Cactus Avenue, crashing into four other vehicles in the process.

Due to the extent of his condition, Smith died at the scene.

Of the four vehicles, only one person inside of them sustained injuries following the crash.
