89-Year-Old Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck

TUCSON, AZ (July 12, 2022) – Thursday morning, a fatal bicycle crash near Alvernon Way claimed the life of David Kenneth Morgan.

According to Tuscon Police Department, the incident occurred on July 7, at around 9:00 a.m. Emergency responders were called to the scene of a crash involving a pickup- truck and a bicyclist near North Alvernon Way and East Mabel Street.

Authorities report that 89-year-old Morgan was riding northbound in the bike lane when, for reasons currently unknown, he veered into the median lane.  There, a Ram pickup-truck, also traveling northbound, fatally struck him. The driver of the pickup-truck pulled over and stayed at the scene until emergency crews arrived.

Afterward, Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene, due to the extent of his injuries. However, the driver of the truck was unharmed.
