Organist David Higgs and soprano Lisa Thelen put their heads together and combine musical talents for the Holiday Organ Recital, another in a series of performances that marks the 10th anniversary of Disney Hall's monstrous in-house pipe organ, which is nicknamed Hurricane Mama. The duo will “Deck the Hall” (Disney, that is) with such traditional carols as “Joy to the World” and “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen” alongside seasonal classical selections by Bach and Mozart. New York native Higgs pumps out an impressively dense and swirling cloud of sound, and he'll solo on organ workouts like Louis Vierne's Carillon de Westminster and Felix Mendelssohn's Organ Sonata No. 1. Local singer Thelen has a stirring, crystalline voice that will be spotlighted on such gems as Adolphe Adams' “O Holy Night.”
