29-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near South Mountain Freeway

PHOENIX, AZ (December 12, 2022) – Early Monday morning, Darrle Woody was killed in a pedestrian crash on Southern Avenue.

The deadly accident took place around 3:00 a.m., near South Mountain Freeway.

According to reports, 29-year-old Woody was walking on the roadway when he was struck by a passing vehicle. Emergency crews arrived shortly after and pronounced Woody dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Following preliminary duties, officers ruled out DUI as a potential factor in the crash.

At this time, authorities are currently conducting an active investigation and will release more information as soon as it becomes available.
