If I say “Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon,” what's the first thing that comes to mind? Chances are you're picturing a luminous triangle on a black background, with a single ray of light coming from one end and a neat rainbow emerging from the dispersive prism.

We couldn't agree more with the intro to Gustavo Turner's feature on the album cover art of Storm Thorgerson in this week's print issue. Thorgerson's design for the Dark Side LP cover is perhaps the most iconic in all of rock, and it's spawned its fair share of parodies. Here are five of our favorites.

5. Star Wars Dark Side

This T-shirt, courtesy of Shirtoid, knows the power of Storm Thorgerson's design. We like to think Vader went to “The Great Gig in the Sky” after Luke put his father's helmet back on (why did he do that again?) and burned dear old dad on the funeral pyre.

4. LEGO Dark Side of the Moon

The artwork from Flickr user savage^ is pretty self-explanatory, and by “self-explanatory,” we mean awesome. You can see even more LEGO album cover recreations over at this Flickr group.

3. Dark Side of the Lolcat

Dude, we hear crazy synchronicity happens if you start typing misspelled captions on top of pictures of cats right when the lion roars at the beginning of The Wizard of Oz. Take a puff and give it a try sometime. You won't regret it. The Internet might. But you won't.

2. The Dorito Side of the Moon

Flickr user Laser Bread created this masterpiece from eight different bags of Doritos. A little back-of-the-envelope math tells us that's just short of a bazillion calories.

1. Dark Side of Link

Best. Mashup. Ever. The protagonist from the Legend of Zelda holds the mythical Triforce aloft, and it's got the Dark Side refraction shining forth. The only thing better would be a double rainbow. Come on, Internet. Let's make this happen.
