Another news item from the Department of Too Soon:

L.A. based porn studio Vivid announced that its The Dark Knight XXX: A Porn Parody DVD was blowing of the shelves after it began arriving at adult stores across America today.

The film has been available online, and Vivid notes that it has received rave reviews.

But why all the heat for the Batman spoof now?

No mention of the Friday tragedy at an Aurora, Colorado screening of the Batman franchise The Dark Knight Rises, of course. Nor was the studio so bold as to note that suspected shooter James Holmes was a reported customer of the porn-adjacent site adultfriendfidner.com.

But that didn't stop Vivid from celebrating the Axel Braun film's success, which can perhaps be attributed to America's morbid fascination with both crime and porn. A statement from the company:

DVD copies of “The Dark Knight XXX: A Porn Parody,” began arriving in adult stores across the country today and were immediately scooped up by an eager public.

The studio noted that the film [NSFW link] starring Aiden Ashley and others has received “mainstream attention.” It quotes NEWS.com.au:

You know your career is in a bad place when a porn film looks better than your multi-million dollar, star-studded, Hollywood films.

Too soon indeed.
