91-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Traffic Accident near 20th Street

OAKLAND, CA (April 29, 2022) – A pedestrian crash on Telegraph Avenue claimed the life of Dao Cheng Zhu Friday morning.

According to police, the crash happened around 7:00 a.m., on the 2000 block of Telegraph Avenue.

For reasons unknown, the driver of a passing vehicle struck the male pedestrian within a marked crosswalk. Paramedics responded and transported 91-year-old Zhu to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, the involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Although, authorities have not yet released their identity.

Oakland Officials are working to identify the circumstances surrounding the pedestrian crash. At this time, an active investigation is still currently underway.
