A young man found stabbed to death in Long Beach on Monday night has since been identified as 24-year-old Danny Calvin Logan, a local resident.

The Long Beach Press-Telegram reports that an LBPD officer happened upon Logan's body around 11:15 p.m. “in the far right lane of the Third Street on-ramp to the 710.”

At that time, he was still alive. However, by 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday morning…

… Logan had succumbed to his injuries. Within hours, friends started Tweeting their reactions to his sudden, early death:

According to the police report, Logan made his way from the 710's Sixth Street off-ramp to the Third Street on-ramp between the time he was attacked and the time he was found:

On Monday, September 12, 2011, at approximately 11:15 p.m., a Long Beach police officer was traveling on the northbound 710 Freeway when he observed a male body lying in the #1 lane of northbound traffic, just north of the 3rd Street on-ramp. The officer immediately stopped to render aid to the victim and called for paramedics. The victim, who had sustained trauma to his body, was transported to a local hospital and listed in critical condition.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the male subject … had been the victim of an assault, and the crime scene was located on the bicycle path, below the 6th Street off-ramp of the southbound 710 Freeway.

Detectives Hugo Cortes and Peter Lackovic, who are heading the investigation, haven't nailed down a motive yet. If you have any more information about what happened, they can be reached at (562) 570-7244.
