Daniel Sabala Arrested after Hit-and-Run Crash on Malloy Avenue

FERNDALE, WA (August 25, 2021) – Officials arrested Daniel Sabala, 25, after fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run rollover crash on Malloy Avenue over the weekend.

According to the officers, the BMW driver collided with an unoccupied vehicle before rolling multiple times, causing damage to a home and surrounding property.

The Ferndale Police Department determined that the BMW drove off the road at a high rate of speed.

The driver then fled the scene, leaving two injured passengers in the vehicle.

Bystanders provided information to responding officers about the driver’s description as well as the direction in which he fled. A witness had followed the driver as he fled and was able to identify him to officers a few feet away.

Eventually, police located Daniel Sabala with noticeable injuries. Officers observed that Sabala had many bee stings while fleeing due to running through a bee’s nest.

WSP later charged him with suspicion of hit-and-run with injuries, driving under the influence, reckless driving, and operation of a vehicle without a required ignition interlock.

Authorities did not release any additional information at this time. However, the crash remain under investigation.

If you ever get involved in a traffic accident, do not attempt to flee the scene. No matter the situation, always wait for the arrival of the police.
