A man who was shot outside a Lincoln Heights pot shop last week has died, the LAPD said today.

The attack in the 5400 block of Valley Boulevard not far from Cal State L.A. happened about 12:25 p.m. last Tuesday and appeared to be gang-related, according to cops. Police did not say if the shooting was related to the marijuana dispensary.

Authorities did say …

… that 25-year-old Daniel Orona and three friends were inside his parked van in front of the shop when a suspect walked up aond opened fire with a handgun.

Orona was hit several times, according to the LAPD.

He drove off before a passenger took the wheel and transported him to a hospital, where he died Friday afternoon.

None of his friends was hit by gunfire, cops said.

Police wouldn't name the pot shop in question but we found one called California Herbal Remedies at 5470 Valley Boulevard.

Anyone with information on the attack was asked to call Hollenbeck Homicide detectives at 323-342-8956.

Added: A commenter is calling the area “University Hills,” which sounds more specific and more correct to us. But weigh in if you think otherwise.
