Cathie Jiaping Lee Arrested after Fatal Pedestrian Accident near 68th Street

EASTVALE, CA (February 21, 2023) – Thursday evening, a hit-and-run pedestrian collision on Sumner Avenue left Daniel Beavers dead. The incident happened at around 6:35 p.m., south of 68th Street. According to reports, a black Mercedes-Benz SUV hit Beavers, who was attempting to cross Sumner Avenue. The driver, 56-year-old Cathie Jiaping Lee, fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim. First responders to the crash declared 70-year-old Daniel Beavers, of Eastvale, dead at the scene, despite the life-saving efforts. Following the crash, Eastvale officials shut down the north and southbound lanes of Sumner Avenue. They then conducted an investigation and performed cleanup and preliminary duties. Later, authorities managed to arrest Lee and booked her to Robert Prestley Jail in Riverside for a suspected hit-and-run. Lee posted a $75,000 bond in the early hours of Friday.
