Man Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run on Corona Expressway

CORONA, CA (October 27, 2022) – On Monday, a crash on Highway 71 claimed the life of Danelle Aguirre and left Robert Chico Griffin arrested.

The Mexican State Police officials overturned the suspect, 46-year-old Griffin, to the California Highway Patrol investigators following the initial incident that occurred on August 15th, around 2:25 a.m. along the northbound Corona Expressway, north of Riverside (91) Freeway.

Furthermore, according to the California Highway Patrol, Griffin rear-ended a Dodge Ram pickup ahead of him, causing the driver to lose control and overturn the Dodge.

Unfortunately, the pickup’s passenger, 41-year-old Aguirre, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. The driver suffered from minor to moderate injuries.

Griffin was booked into Riverside’s Robert Presley Detention Center for suspected hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter. However, he was out of custody on Friday after posting a $150,000 bond.

No words can mend the broken hearts and sorrow felt during this delicate moment. Deepest condolences and sympathies are with the family and friends of Danelle Aguirre.
