The major club event of the week takes place Friday at Control, when Major Lazer (the reggae-humping, electro-thumping sonic spectacle from producer/DJs Diplo and Switch) brings its funked-out, hot-mess body rock to the Hollywood masses — one of the few projects that is almost as much fun as the videos. Across town, same night, an equally eccentric mix will be showcased at Cureation, this month with special guest DJs Andy Votel (B-Music/Finders Keepers records, U.K.) and David Holmes (B-Music Belfast), plus Jackie Hoodoo and resident DJs Mahssa and Kave-in (Kevin Fitzgerald). Both nights, Fri., Sept. 10, over 18; till 4 a.m. Finally, the bootylicious Mr. Black L.A. celebrates its first anniversary this Tuesday.
