A Pacoima teenager who friends say was pregnant died yesterday morning when her boyfriend veered into oncoming traffic.

Dana Corleto, 19, was riding in the passenger's seat of a silver VW Passat when Jesus Felix, her 18-year-old boyfriend, reportedly lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the center margin and smashed head-on into a pickup truck traveling the opposite direction.

By last night, says LAPD Officer Daniel Menesez, Felix had been arrested.

He was booked for “felony vehicular manslaughter” with “gross negligence.” However, Officer Menesez tells us that this is not a DUI case — instead, it's based on Felix's allegedly erratic driving pattern and “speed issues.”

Investigators believe that Felix was driving “aggressively” and changing lanes too quickly, causing him to lose control of the VW as he traveled south on Glenoaks Boulevard. The crash occurred just north of Truesdale Street, in an industrial part of Sun Valley:

The other driver, identified as 53-year-old Gagik Harutyunyun of Burbank, came away with only minor injuries, reports City News Service.

Corleto wasn't so lucky. She died soon after the crash at a nearby hospital.

Officer Menesez says he “can't go into her medical history.” But friends on Twitter say the crash victim was carrying a child:

Corleto and Felix share a profile on Facebook, under the name “DanaJesus Felix.” Their profile says they graduated from San Fernando High School last year.

Sara Cortez, another friend on Twitter, calls the victim “such a beautiful person” — and Susanne Evette says, “She was the sweetest, man.”
