Inglewood rapper Damani Nkosi got his mainstream introduction on Kurupt's 2001 album, Space Boogie: Smoke Odyssey. Having spent much of the decade hanging around Snoop Dogg and his crew, Nkosi was known for his tales of pimpin' and sexual conquests with songs like, “In Love With A Hoe,” “You Ain't My Lady.” His 2006 mixtape was called Congratulations Playa.

But after a stint with the Snoop-backed group Dubb Union and a record deal with Sony, Nkosi began a dramatic shift in his themes, introducing a mature and grown up sound.

“I wasn't inspired by anything in the game and grew tired of bragging about my endeavors,” he says. “I needed to make some adjustments in my sound.”

Nkosi's new work Thoughtful King, out today, then, is a departure, featuring songs about love and other enlightened themes, and videos shot around the globe. “On My Way To Inglewood” was shot in Germany and Switzerland, and West Coast Sound is proud to premiere it below.
