One Dead, Multiple Hospitalized after Two-Vehicle Collision near 165th Street East
LLANO, CA (December 7, 2022) – Saturday, Daisy Torres died, and Carlos Torres, Christa Smith, and Percy Yancor were hurt in an off-road crash.
The incident occurred around 4:05 p.m., near the intersection of 165th Street East and Avenue V on December 3rd.
Per reports, Carlos was driving a 2021 Polaris RZR west on an unincorporated dirt road near Avenue V. There, the Polaris collided with a 2016 Honda Civic that was heading north on 165th Street East.
Upon impact, the Polaris overturned. A passenger of the Polaris, 14-year-old Daisy, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Paramedics also took the driver, 23-year-old Carlos Cruz Torres, and two other passengers, 20-year-old Christa of Palmdale, and a 17-year-old girl from Palmdale to Antelope Valley Hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Honda, 31-year-old Percy Noe Jr. Yancor, of California City sustained moderate injuries and refused medical transportation.
Following preliminary duties, officers do not believe that impairment played a factor. However, an active investigation is still currently underway.
