Washington Boulevard was reportedly shut down between Overland Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard while detectives investigate the shooting.
Motorists were encouraged to avoid the area.

[Update at 4:06 p.m.]: The L.A. County Sheriff's Department says some of its detectives were en route to the scene to investigate the shooting. Many smaller police departments use Sheriff's detectives for their officer-involved shooting cases.
Sheriff's deputies say the shooting happened about 2:30 p.m.
Culver City police, meanwhile, say the street closures include Washington Boulevard between Huron Avenue and Elenda Street and Washington Place east of Sepulveda Boulevard.
