Ever heard of Eddie Brandstatter? Ask your grandparents– but only if they were the partying type. When the 20s roared, he was L.A.'s lion, and on January 9th, he will be the subject of a free lecture from the Culinary Historians of Southern California.

Brandstatter was a lightning rod for excitement and conviviality, owning popular, high-end spots like Sardi's and the Embassy Club, rubbing elbows with stars, getting convicted of theft, and seemingly running wild until his suicide in 1940.

The lecture will be given by author and former LA Times food writer Charles Perry at 10:30 AM in the downtown central branch of the L.A. Public Library, in the Mark Taper Auditorium. It will be followed by a reception with themed refreshments. For more information, visit the Culinary Historians of Southern California website.
