On August 22nd, you might want to bring a few extra market bags to the Hollywood Farmers Market, maybe even a box or two. Because along with late season fruit, you could be bringing home quite a few cookbooks. The Culinary Historians of Southern California will be having a cookbook sale, including thousands of vintage and recent titles. The books have been donated by members or fans of the Culinary Historians, which means that most of them have already been vetted by just the people you might want picking out your books for you. The sale will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. — or until they run out of books — and, as with most events of this kind, you'll want to come early for the best selection.

Alternatively, if you have a stack of Elizabeth David and Jane Grigson titles that for some reason you wish to donate for the event, contact Billie Connor-Dominguez at (323) 660-6399. The Culinary Historians of Southern California (CHSC) is a not-for-profit organization that supports the culinary collections at the Los Angeles Public Library; proceeds from the book sale enhance the work of the CHSC.
