The rain is no excuse, Angelenos. Culinary historian and cookbook author Jessica Harris speaks at UCLA's Fowler Museum tonight, about the African origins of some South Carolina Lowcountry culinary traditions. Dr. Harris is the author of eight cookbooks that focus on the food and foodways of the African Diaspora. Get out your umbrella, put on some rain boots and head over early to check out the current exhibition Grass Roots: African Origins of an American Art. Museum admission is free and if you want to park on campus, look for Lot 4 at Sunset Blvd. and Westwood. Lecture @ 7pm. For directions, go here.
