As of press time, summer is officially over by a few days. Yet is that any reason to give up the en-masse nighttime activities that make the season so grand? Not while the weather holds out, anyway, and the folks at Amoeba Music agree, as their Movie Mondays film series has continued through this month in the courtyard at Space 15 Twenty in Hollywood. The free outdoor screenings have mostly been of the nostalgic Woodstock-era sort, but all that is about to change this week with the series' final offering of this year's documentary hit Anvil!: The Story of Anvil, which promises to rock the face off the quaint, clean lines of that courtyard space and then maybe upchuck a little beer for good measure. Sacha Gervasi's superb doc about the trials and tribulations of Canada's long-languishing metal outfit is as honest, soulful and heart-wrenching as it is funny; think Spinal Tap at their lowest ebb but stripped of the buffer of parody, it's a real punch in the nads and damned inspiring to boot. Trust us, you really have nothing else better to do on Monday night.
