Some powerful forces in Los Angeles want to bring the NFL back to town.

Anschutz Entertainment Group, which owns Staples Center, L.A. Live and concert promoter AEG Live, had its dreams for a downtown L.A. stadium green lit by the City Council in record time in fall. And Majestic Realty, which helped develop Staples, says its plans for a stadium in Industry are ready to go and “shovel-ready.”

But what about the fans? What kind of say do you have?

Maybe a little.

The folks at crowdfunding site TrillionFans alerted us to its latest campaign — to “bring the NFL back to L.A.”

The idea here is not to buy an NFL team outright or to pay for a stadium's construction, but to make a statement — that locals want pro football so bad they're willing to back it with their wallets.

TrillionFans:

Los Angeles may be the greatest sports city in the world. But one thing is missing. NFL football.

The site is looking for just enough to make an impact: Cash would go to the team that moves here during one of its first home games.

If a team doesn't come, the money will go to the TrillionFans' NFL playoffs and Super Bowl campaign to send fans to the big games.

Site co-founder Kenneth Ching tells the Weekly a good tally here would “show public support” and “provide a real financial incentive for a team to move to L.A.”
