Damian Kevitt, who lost his lower right let in a hit-and-run collision last year, will join the pack “for a memorial ride and candlelight vigil dedicated to hit-and-run victims,” according to a statement:

About a year ago Critical Mass honored Kevitt himself, who was still in the hospital recovering from a collision in which he was dragged 600 feet onto the 5 freeway during a bicycle ride with his girlfriend near Griffith Park.

The Feb. 17, 2013 accident crushed the lower part of his right leg, shattered a shoulder and broke other bones. It put Kevitt in the hospital for four months, and he still undergoes therapy.

Despite a $25,000 reward, the driver has yet to be caught.

Kevitt got back on his bike and has become somewhat of a cause celebre in the cycling community. He has also endorsed state Assemblyman Mike Gatto's AB 1532, a law that would take drivers licenses away from motorists who flee even minor injury accidents.

Kevitt is also preparing for an April 27 fund-raiser called “Finish the Ride.”

Tomorrow's action starts at 7:30 p.m. at Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue in Koreatown.
