Passenger Killed in Crash near Bunting Drive

BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 19, 2023) Early Monday morning, Cristian Escobar-Rodriguez was arrested following a deadly DUI crash.

The incident happened on April 3rd just before 2:00 a.m. on East Belle Terrace, just east of Bunting Drive, involving a Dodge Charger.

According to the BPD, 29-year-old Escobar-Rodriguez was driving the Dodge at 60 mph with a 34-year-old man, a 29-year-old, and a 30-year-old woman.

Upon investigation, Escobar-Rodriguez failed to make a turn and crashed into a dirt embankment along a nearby canal.

Furthermore, the two women were trapped in the vehicle with one not wearing a seatbelt. Authorities took the three of them to Kern Medical with moderate to major injuries.

Meanwhile, the woman who was not wearing a seatbelt died at the scene. The police are encouraging any witnesses to contact the CHP’s Bakersfield office at 661-396-6600.
