Dennis RomeroAs many as 33 people were injured when a driverless dump truck rolled into a Metro bus which then careened into a woman driving her preteen daughter in a BMW in Hollywood today, authorities said.
That driver seemed to get the worst of it, with the L.A. Fire Department's Brian Humphrey saying she had been trapped for 20 minutes and appeared to be in serious condition.
Her daughter was “fair.” That left as many as 30 on the bus and its driver to seek treatment:
It was reported about 7:57 a.m. in the 7600 block of Hollywood Boulevard, LAPD Officer Bruce Borihanh told us.
The LAFD's Humphrey reported an unoccupied dump drunk might have rolled onto Hollywood, hitting the bus which then “collided head-on” with the sedan.
He told the Weekly all aboard the bus, about 30, plus the driver (who was said to be in “fair” condition) requested hospitalization for minor injuries. “Everyone on the bus wanted to go to the hospital,” he said.
Metro stated its line 780 bus was going westbound when the accident happened.

Humphrey told us the maroon, unmarked dump truck was unoccupied when rescuers reached it.
The cause of the dump truck's roll was under investigation. In the meantime, Hollywood Boulevard near Stanley Avenue was expected to be closed for hours, Borihanh said.
