3 Killed and 6 Injured by DUI Driver in San Diego, CA

SAN DIEGO, CA (March 16, 2021) – 71-year-old Craig Voss killed 3 and injured 6 Monday morning, after he drove directly into a homeless encampment.

Voss was driving westbound through a tunnel underneath San Diego City College when he veered up onto the sidewalk and into the crowd of people.

Emergency crews arrived to the scene shortly after 9:00 a.m. Three victims were pronounced dead on scene while paramedics transported six others to nearby hospitals for treatment.

After the crash, Craig Voss remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. Officers suspect Voss of driving under the influence at the time of the accident.

The pedestrians that were hit were mostly, if not all, homeless taking shelter in the tunnel. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims. Following the crash, officials closed the area where the accident took place for the remainder of the day.

At this time, an active investigation remains ongoing. Once available, more information will be released to the public.
