One-year anniversaries call for a certain special celebration. Any time a small business, especially a restaurant, to makes it through its first year, some booze and good vibes are definitely deserved. So when we heard that Bread & Barley in downtown Covina plans to celebrate its first anniversary with not one, but two, beer-tastic events, we couldn’t help but cheer.

First up on the party docket is a Bottle Logic Brewer’s Brunch on Sunday, November 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This ticketed event will be fairly limited, so plan in advance. Your $40 ticket gets you a pint glass, unlimited brunchy goodness, one beer cocktail (craft micheladas, anyone?) and one full pour of Bread & Barley’s anniversary beer made by Bottle Logic Brewing in Anaheim. Bread & Barley has collaborated with the award-winning brewers on the recipe, though you'll have to attend to learn the style of this mystery celebration beer. But since Bottle Logic's Lagerithm Dark Lager recently won a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival—hardly some county fair—and they haven’t even been open for a year, you'll be in good brewing hands.

As for the food, Bread & Barley fans know that the place won't stick you with a vat of scrambled egg beaters and over-crisped bacon. Monte Cristo sandwiches, apple ambrosia and beer pancakes are on the bill for November 9. Anyone else’s mouth watering?

Event numero dos will take place the following Saturday, November 15 at the Covina bar and this one is more open to the public. Tickets are only $10 and that grants you a glass and a full pour of the anniversary beer. But there's a catch: Because the bar isn't huge, only the first 50 patrons who show up at noon, 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. that day will get the free glassware. Plan accordingly.
