As fires burn through L.A. County, unhealthy to hazardous smoke conditions have caused some county-run COVID-19 testing sites to close for the weekend.

Many L.A. County-run testing sites operate outdoors and with L.A. Public Health officials asking Angelenos to limit outdoor activities, a number of sites have made the decision to close.

The Bobcat Fire has burned through 29,245 acres of the Angeles National Forest at 6% containment and has made its way north toward Highway 2 near Angeles Crest.

Smoke from the fire has billowed down for miles, covering cities throughout L.A. County, giving a cloudy appearance in what was otherwise forecasted to be a sunny day with clear skies.

While much of the county has had its air quality designated as unhealthy, many San Gabriel Valley cities that sit closer to the fire, such as Monrovia, Duarte and Pasadena, have had warnings of the air quality being labeled as hazardous.
Because of these conditions, the following COVID-19 sites will be closed:

  • East LA College (Monterey Park)
  • Pomona Fairplex Gate 17 (Pomona)
  • San Gabriel Valley Airport (El Monte)
  • Montebello Civic Center (Montebello)
  • College of the Canyons (Santa Clarita)
  • East L.A. College (Monterey Park)
