Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near Sultana Avenue

FONTANA, CA (August 9, 2022) – Wednesday, Coreyraye Smith was arrested after fleeing the scene of a fatal hit-and-run on Foothill Boulevard.

Officers responded to the area around 5:35 a.m., just west of Sultana Avenue.

Following preliminary investigations, crews say Smith was driving a white pickup-truck when he hit a pedestrian walking east in the left turn lane of Foothill Boulevard.

Upon impact, Smith immediately fled the scene without rendering aid to the severely injured victim. First responders arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries.

At this time, authorities have not released the identity of the deceased victim.

However, officers located the suspect’s vehicle which led them to an address in Rialto. Coreyraye Smith was then arrested for a felony hit-and-run.
