Police were searching for a murderer overnight.

Four people were found shot, one fatally, outside the Standard Hotel downtown early Sunday, authorities said.

The shooting in the 500 block of Flower Street was reported at 2:20 a.m., Los Angeles Police Department Officer Rosario Herrera said.

“There was an altercation of some type, and four victims were struck by gunfire,” she said.

All four were taken to a hospital, Herrera said. One was pronounced dead there, while the other three were said to have been stabilized.

Some reports indicated that the shooting took place inside the hotel. TV news footage of the aftermath showed that glass doors on the street level of the Standard had been shattered.

Two rescue ambulances were sent to a shooting report “near the entrance to the Standard Hotel” at 2:25 a.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott told us.

Another shooting victim was reported a few blocks away, at Olympic Boulevard and Hill Street, at 2:21 a.m., Scott said.

“One person was injured and transported to a local hospital,” he said.

The hotel, known for its rooftop club events, was closed for a short time as detectives combed through the crime scene.
