U.K.-born producer and San Francisco DJ sensation Lee Coombs (Thrust Records) brings his bounteous breakbeat blends to the long-running Monday Social this week, and his meshings of '80s melodiousness (even Echo and Bunnymen get the dance-floor treatment!) and future funk are not to be missed. His giddy, liquidy style is definitely the kind you want to get immersed in, and this album-release party should feature plenty of gyrating gems from his new Lot 49 compilation. Also on the bill is local dance music luminary Simply Jeff, whose phat and freaky rhythms are simply the shit. Nacional, 1645 Wilcox Ave., Hlywd.; Mon., Jan. 21, 10 p.m.-2 a.m.; $10 before mid., $20. www.mondaysocial.com.

And if you happen to be lucky enough to be reading this on Thursday, Jan. 17, pop on over to The Rootdown, where the one and only Grandmaster Flash was just snagged to spin fantastic funk and hip-hop plastic classics.

Little Temple, 4519 Santa Monica Blvd., Silver Lake; 10 p.m.-2 a.m.; $10.
