Ever wonder what it would be like if the Food Network or PBS or whomever gave a cooking show to somebody completely unlikely? Not Bobby Flay or Mario Batali or even Brian Boitano (yes, this month), but Werner Herzog? Imagine the German filmmaker, director of Fitzcarraldo and Nosferatu (and writer of the short documentary film Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe) with his own cooking show. Well, here you go.

Produced by Sandwich films and directed by Emmy Award-winning director and screenwriter John Webb, here is “Cooking with Werner,” from WernerHerzogEatsTheWorld.com. In the skit, the German filmmaker teams up with Jim Jarmusch to cook a cheese sandwich. “It wasn't easy,” notes Herzog (played by Will Maier) at the end of his cooking demo, “but real art never is.”
