Conrad Murry could be stripped of his ability to practice medicine in California Monday if the state's medical board gets its way in Los Angeles Superior Court. The board is asking Judge Michael E. Pastor to prevent the doctor from practicing in the Golden State pending the outcome of his manslaughter trial connected to the death of Michael Jackson last year. The state board wants the 57-year-old doctor to “cease and desist from the practice of medicine until final conclusion of the pending criminal proceedings.''

Murray is facing a manslaughter case for allegedly injecting Jackson with a fatal dose of a powerful sedatives at the pop star's Holmby Hills home on June 25.

Murray has verbally vowed to stay away from medical practice in California, but “there is

no legal bar to him changing his mind and engaging in practice in this state,” Deputy Attorney General Trina L. Saunders has noted.

Murray is already under an L.A. judge's orders not to administer any potent sedatives to patients. The doctor does want to hold on to his practicing privileges in California, however, arguing that it would be hard on his pocket book if he had to stay away.
