A new company in Santa Monica promises to patrol your block– before parking enforcement and street sweepers arrive — and warn you to move your car or face a parking ticket. The concern charges $60 a year and claims that $12,000 in tickets have been spared so far.

According to the Santa Monica Daily Press the startup Ticket Angels only operates in the city's north-of-Montana Avenue neighborhood but plans to expand to the entire city soon.

Ticket Angels puts a rover on a scooter to check for unmoved cars during street sweeping hours against its database of subscribers. The patrol then warns customers if a ticket is imminent. That ticket can cost $61.

“I'd much rather give them the money than the city of Santa Monica,” Roy Newman, a Santa Monica attorney, told the paper.
