The arrests Tuesday of eight Bell city officials rounded up all the suspects — former city manager Robert Rizzo, former assistant city manager Angela Spaccia, Mayor Oscar Hernandez, City Council members Luis Artiga, Teresa Jacobo and George Mirabal, and former City Council members George Cole and Victor Bello — who took exorbitant pay. Except one:

Former police Chief Randy Adams, who took home President Obama money ($457,000) and who happened to be acquainted with the District Attorney, Steve Cooley, who announced the misappropriation-of-public-funds arrests as part of the Bell salary scandal. Which leads us to the comment of the day, from “Bell PD:”

It is time L A Weekly took a close look at the relationship betweeen Steve Cooley and Randy Adams, the million dollar chief of Bell. It is interesting how Adams escaped the long dick of the law in Bell. Cooley knew about Adams over a year ago with Jim Corocran went to the DA – and yet Cooley did NOT open an investigation. In FACT Cooley called Adams and let him know that Jim had spilled the beans. I tought Cooley was a strait up guy until now. He is no better than Garcetti or Reiner. Why can't LA get a decent man to run the D A s office?
