Comic-Con starts on Thursday, free Van Leeuwen ice cream scoops at the L.A. Zoo and Pop’s Bagels at Pikoh on Pico — here’s what’s popping up this week!

Saturday, July 13

Ricardo Zarate and Zachary Liporace of Pop’s Bagels are getting together this Saturday morning for a unique collaboration at Pikoh in West LA. from 9 a.m. to noon, or whenever the bagels run out.

Pop’s will be offering their standard menu alongside creations from Zarate and his team. Expect to see some Japanese- and Peruvian-inspired items such as the Pikoh pork belly sando with kimchi, egg and a gochujang cream cheese.

If you’re heading south to Comic-Con, two of the restaurants within walking distance of the San Diego Convention Center, the Bootlegger and The Local are hosting special Comic-Con menus and décor.

Friday, July 19-Sunday, July 21

For one weekend only, Stitch Fix and Van Leeuwen will be serving up complimentary scoops of ice cream from a custom co-branded ice cream truck at the L.A. Zoo from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. In the time it takes to wait for a tasty scoop, parents and kids can get back-to-school ready with the help of the Stitch Fix fleet, who will be onsite to answer any questions. Additionally, those who stop by will have the chance to be gifted credit towards a Stitch Fix Kids First Day Fix, pose with summer-themed props in a dynamic GIF Booth, and customize either a hat or pencil case using an array of unique designs.

This week, Lanea is bringing the spirit of Mexico to Santa Monica with a hand-selection of Tequilas, Mezcals, and authentic cuisine from East L.A.’s family-run Barba Kush.

Lanea is  partnering with the Zavaleta family to bring traditional Mexican cuisine from Barba Kush just three blocks from the ocean in Santa Monica. Along with their classics, the Zavaleta family will serve five different styles of tacos on their handmade to order corn tortillas, chips and guacamole, and breakfast tacos on the weekend.

The cocktail program, curated by beverage director Bethany Ham, previously of Clifton’s Cafeteria,  incorporates wellness driven ingredients, taking advantage of the Santa Monica farmers market in the backyard.

Magnolia Bakery Black & White Cookies

This July marks the 30th anniversary of Seinfeld and Magnolia Bakery has  partnered with the SONY team to launch a NYC classic: The black & white cookie featured in the beloved series starring Jerry Seinfeld.

For the first time, Magnolia Bakery will be freshly-baking black & white cookies, made with a vanilla cake base and a hint of lemon and finished with a chocolate and white chocolate glaze. Black & white cookies will be available during the month of July while supplies last for $3.50 each.
