25-Year-Old Reckless Driver Dead after Deadly Collision near Argent Avenue

ELKO, NV (July 19, 2023) – Wednesday evening, police responded to a crash that claimed the life of Colt Smiley.

It took place at the intersection of Mountain City Highway and Argent Avenue, at around 7:30 p.m., July 5th.

According to the Elko Police Department, Honda Civic driven by 25-year-old Smiley and a Toyota Tacoma were involved in the deadly collision.

Investigation showed that Smiley was traveling on Argent Avenue when he failed to yield at a red light and slammed the driver’s side of the Toyota.

Furthermore, responding authorities transported Smiley to Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

It was unknown if the driver suffered extensive damages and he remained at the scene.

Consequently, the authorities stated that alcohol or drugs were not the contributing factor to the incident. An active investigation is still underway.
