UPDATE at 3:56 p.m., Monday, March 30: Police today said a young man fatality struck on the 10 freeway early Saturday is Eloi Vasquez. See the complete story on the discovery here.

Cops are on the lookout for a UC Berkeley student who has gone missing after partying across the street from USC.

Authorities say 19-year-old Eloi Vasquez fell off the map early Saturday after telling “his friends that he wanted to take a walk,” according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement.

He was last seen at 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of West 28th Street, police said. Vasquez had been at a nearby party with friends before taking off, they said.

A couple things about the case are cause for concern:

He wondered off in a neighborhood where three USC students had been killed in alleged botched robberies in recent years.

And Vasquez's phone went dead and hasn't been back on since he was with his friends, according to reports.

Eloi left the party and did not return. Concerned friends tried to make contact with him the following morning but had no success. His family is concerned that he has not been located. Eloi did not have money or an identification card with him.

The teen is 6 feet, 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, gray pants and white trainers.

Anyone who knows where he might be was urged to call LAPD at 213-486-8582.
