41-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident near Holland Avenue

FRESNO, CA (November 14, 2022) – Early Monday night, Colin Volpe was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Blackstone Avenue.

Police responded to the scene around 5:30 p.m., on November 7th.

According to police, the driver of a vehicle struck a pedestrian in the area of Blackstone and Holland Avenue, just north of Ashlan.

Initial investigation stated that Volpe was walking outside of a marked crosswalk when a van hit him. A nearby witness remained in the area, but it was believed that another driver struck Volpe and fled the scene.

Witnesses later described the second car as a silver four door vehicle.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics later pronounced 41-year-old Volpe dead. Crews closed both directions of the roadway for a brief time to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
