Indio here we come. The line-up for Coachella 2023 just dropped, announcing Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK and Frank Ocean as headliners. Calvin Harris is listed at the bottom of the bill as “Returning to the Desert,” indicating the Scottish DJ hasn’t been assigned a day yet by festival organizers, but is still receiving top billing.

This year the festival is slated for the weekends of April 14-16 and April 21-23 — notably this will be the first Coachella in recent memory that won’t land on Easter Sunday, which is on April 9th this year.

The line-up features an array of talent across genres — and a few surprises — as we’ve come to expect for the annual music mecca.

Friday’s roster features some modern classics like Gorillaz, The Chemical Brothers and Blondie, plus Latin singer Becky G and Nigerian superstar Burna Boy. Rosalía, Charlie XCX, Labrinth, boygenius and Underworld are billed for Saturday. Sunday will close out with Björk, Kali Uchis, Porter Robinson, Dominic Fike and Jai Paul among many others. Rap artists throughout the weekend include Metro Boomin, Pusha T, Rae Sremmurd and Yung Lean.

Frank Ocean has notably remained on the bill. The elusive artist was originally planned for the 2020 festival which was cancelled due to the pandemic, then was expected for the 2022 return but was left out — at the time, the festival made a rare early announcement of his return for 2023, and here he remains. Frank Ocean has a history of pulling out of festivals, including the 2015 FYF Fest in Los Angeles which he cancelled minute and was filled in by Kanye West. He returned for the 2017 FYF Fest, delivering a performance for ages, featuring none other than Brad Pitt.

This year’s others headliners highlight the growing global sound Coachella is featuring, with Latin megastar Bad Bunny getting the top billing and BLACKPINK making history as the first K-pop group to headline the festival. BLACKPINK were first featured at the 2019 Coachella, making them then the first all-female K-pop act to make it on the line-up. The fact that they’re headlining this year is a good measurement of the skyrocketing popularity of K-pop.
