Detectives believe that Johnson was walking from his home when the gunman, described as an African American male approached on foot. While Johnson does not have any gang ties, detectives believe that the gunman asked Johnson his gang affiliation and then shot him.

The gunman then ran east on 59th Place and Flower street before driving off in a grey mid-sized sedan. He collided with a parked car on Flower Street and then drove away. Anyone with information about the shooting should contact LAPD 77th Division detectives at (213) 485-1383.
