Take a break from Black Friday shopping with the 1952 classic Singin' in the Rain at the Aero at 7:30 p.m. Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor star in this musical comedy about the changeover from silent films to sound. The Technicolor visuals are still stunning, even more than 60 years later.

Or, if you want something more frightening, the Egyptian is having a “Kubrick's Cube” double feature with The Shining and Room 237. First, watch little Danny encounter creepy twins in a creepy hotel. Then, watch the documentary that examines some of the out-there theories about what Kubrick's iconic film is really about. It all starts at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 3

Before Justin Bieber and his Beliebers, teen girls got all in a frenzy over Elvis. This fangirl phenomenon led to stage musical-turned-film Bye Bye Birdie, featuring a young Ann-Margret as the lucky girl picked to give fictional pop idol Conrad Birdie a kiss before he goes off to the war. Catch the musical charmer at LACMA's Bing Theater at 1 p.m. for $4 ($2 for seniors and LACMA members).

Come to Busby's East starting at 7 p.m. for a shout-out to the Philippine rock music scene with a screening of Rakenrol, followed by a special performance by Sandwich and Spazzkid. The film follows Irene and Odie, who become friends over their shared love of rock and decide to form a band. Proceeds from this event (which is for those 21 and older) will go to the Philippine Red Cross for relief efforts for Typhoon Haiyan. Tickets are limited, so it's highly recommended you get them online for $30 at brownpapertickets.com/event/510099. If you miss the deadline, they're $40 at the door.
