The Put Your Hands Together comedy showcase was conceived to present only one thing: 75 pulse-pounding, mind-melting, spine-shattering minutes of laughter inspired by some of the best comics in Los Angeles. Produced in conjunction with aspecialthing records — the rare record label that still releases stand-up comedy recordings — and host Cameron Esposito (one of this periodical's very own Comedy Acts to Watch in 2013), it's also available as a swiftly uploaded podcast. Past guests have included Aziz Ansari, Bobcat Goldthwait and Anthony Jeselnik, yet despite the allure of these massive superstars, you never really know what you're going to get. However, when they tell you to put your hands together, that can mean either wild applause for those who have pleased the comedy gods — or intense prayer for the luckless few who are bombing horribly. UCB Theater, 5919 Franklin Ave., Hlywd; Los Angeles; Tuesdays, 8 p.m., $5. (323) 908-8702, losangeles.ucbtheatre.com.

Tuesdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Jan. 15. Continues through Dec. 10, 2013
