It's fun to order things Chipotle-style: a little from column A, a little from column B. Now, City Tavern is attempting to channel the same fun we have building our own burgers and burritos (and bears, we guess) into its cocktail menu.

Recently the Culver City bar and restaurant announced a new “Market Basket” cocktail program in which every Sunday from 3 p.m. to close, imbibers basically create their own cocktails. Pick out any spirit plus any fruit and any syrup, and the bartender will whip it up as you call it.

While there aren't too many ways to fail at being a “sandwich artist,” it does sound like this has the potential to go very wrong.

But that's part of the fun, right? It's easier to be more adventurous with drinks, since a mistake won't ruin your whole meal. (Just your whole glass.) But at $6 a pop, you can afford to take a few chances.

The menu changes weekly based on what's in season, and what kind of mood the bartenders are in, but below is a sampling from last week to give you an idea:

Booze

1) Reyka vodka

2) Nolet's gin

3) Angel's Envy whiskey

Fruits and such

1) Cucumber

2) Peppers (many different kinds)

3) Thyme

Waters and syrups

1) Tangerine mint water

2) Spicy lavender syrup

3) Allspice honey

We're thinking whiskey, peppers and allspice honey. You?
