Dennis RomeroAfter some bold and sometimes controversial moves, like heading to the beach down Venice Boulevard only to see some bicyclists stranded on the Westside, CicLAvia is back, back, back to where it once belonged.
Right in the heart of Los Angeles. In fact, they're calling this one “Heart of L.A.” Organizers this week announced that the unique, closed-streets bike ride is returning to downtown and environs:
Organizers say the Oct. 6 ride, CicLAvia's eighth since 2010, will hit Chinatown, Olvera Street, the Historic Core, Boyle Heights, Westlake, Little Tokyo, Central Avenue and Grand Park.
They say June's ride down Wilshire Boulevard, a first, attracted nearly 400,000 people. CicLAvia says of the next one:

More than 150,000 people will engage with the historic city center, cultural districts, businesses and each other in ways that aren't possible in a car.
'CicLAvia — Heart of L.A.' will allow participants to enjoy downtown by foot, bike, skates or other nonmotorized transport.
The 7.4-mile, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ride in October doesn't appear to have a route map yet. We'll keep you posted.
