34-Year-Old Woman Struck and Killed in Train Accident near Thomas Road

PHOENIX, AZ (February 22, 2022) – Thursday evening, 34-year-old Ciara Chacon was fatally struck by a train on 27th Avenue.

The fatal incident took place in the area of 27th Avenue and Thomas Road around 5:45 p.m. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

Phoenix police say Chacon was distracted by an altercation nearby when she stepped back and fell onto the tracks. There, she was fatally struck by a passing train.

The coroner later told her family that she died of blunt force trauma. Loved ones of Chacon say she left behind six children. The family of Chacon set up a GoFundMe page to help with costs during these devastating times.
