Three-Vehicle Accident near Pelandale Avenue Left 27-Year-Old Paso Robles Man Dead

MODESTO, CA (July 12, 2023) – Thursday, Christopher Graham was killed, and Florinda De Laureano was injured in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 99. The first crash happened around 11:38 p.m. along southbound Highway 99, south of Pelandale Avenue. According to reports, Graham was driving a Toyota sedan southbound on the highway when he made an unsafe lane change. As a result, De Laureano, in a Volvo SUV, swerved to avoid an accident and lost control of her vehicle. The SUV crashed into a cyclone fence and ended up on railroad tracks that were near the highway. Meanwhile, Graham did not stop to render aid to the victim and instead fled the scene. However, his car became disabled about half a mile down the road. He then decided to exit his vehicle and try to get other motorists to stop for him. Witnesses say he was waving his hands and throwing rocks at passing vehicles. Graham then walked into the slow lane where he was struck by a Chevrolet pickup. First responders to the accident pronounced 27-year-old Christopher Graham, dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the 60-year-old Volvo driver, Florinda De Laureano, to a hospital for minor injuries. Police said that the 51-year-old Modesto man driving the Chevrolet pickup did not sustain injuries.
