Fatal Wrong-Way Accident near Pioneer Road

KEYES, CA (September 8, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, Christopher Desousa was killed in a head-on crash on Keyes Road.

The incident took place around 1:10 a.m., just east of Pioneer Road on September 4th.

According to reports, Desousa was driving a 2008 Mazda 3 east on Keyes Road at a high rate of speed. For reasons unknown, he eventually veered into oncoming lanes where he collided head-on with a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Richard John Agresti.

The impact ejected Desousa from the Mazda onto the road. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, crews pronounced 33-year-old Desousa, of Turlock dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, medics transported 31-year-old Agresti, of Ceres to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

At this time, it is unclear whether or not drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. Once available, further details will be provided.
